EDGEWARE, 7.02AM

"Three days?!.." repeated Stanley, trailing off in puzzlement. "What did you do in those three days?"
Peggy laughed lewdly.

"Quid pro quo Clarice," she said impersonating Anthony Hopkins, "I need something from you first, buddy-boy. Help me get this mask off, and I tell you what you want to know."
Stanley grimaced.

"It's really stuck? Umm ok, I'll help." He gestured at his own nape, "Err do you mind if I uhh... look?" Peggy leaned forward and closed her eyes. She bent her head down over and pulled her hair forward to expose the back of her neck.

Scarlet locks of hair burst out of green flesh organically all the way down to the end of her hairline, where the mask ended in a solid green line. Peggy's skin just beyond the edge of the mask looked pinched and red from its vice-like grip on her head. Normally this was where Stanley would grab the mask to pull it off: normally when he wore it, the green 'skin' that coated his skull would leave a bald, smooth cleft right at the top of his spine where he could grab on with his two hands and split it open. With Peggy there was almost no perceptible seam between her skin and the mask. It simply transitioned from smooth and green to normal skin. He felt around with his fingernails, but they slid over the unbroken surface without finding a catch, and Peggy stirred impatiently. Stanley instead grabbed both of her temples and gradually began to yank harder.
Peggy's masked face began to distort and she crunched her brows together in discomfort. The fleshy green material was pliable and elastic in his hands, squishing around familiarly as he stretched it, but it clung more strongly and tightly to Peggy's skull than he ever remembered it doing with him. His biceps strained as he pulled it further and further out. Peggy stoically grunted and strained as her eyeballs were stretched a foot out from her eye sockets. She groaned in pain as the stretchy green membrane pulled sharply on the insides of her nostrils, and the gums around her gritted teeth. She could feel it sliding out of her ear holes like a coiled snake from deep within her head. It was agonizing, but she felt like it might be starting to give.

The mask released her eyeballs with a gentle popping sound, and they snapped back into her sockets. The green membrane peeled away from her gums, and her lips came apart from the mask's surface. Stanley could see Peggy's face slowly being revealed through the mouth and eye holes in the mask—it was coming off! Peggy gripped the sides of the couch and wrested her head back while Stanley grunted as he pulled the stretchy green flesh, leaning backwards with all of his weight. The elastic material bunched up in his grip felt tingly in his palms. It was beginning to detach from Peggy's skin, however it still encased most of her head. Stanley noted with relief that a few small tears in the membrane had started to appear, with sprigs of her red hair poking through from underneath the mask. Her glittery silver skirt and black top shimmered with magical energy as they started to revert to her original clothes.

"Grrkk! Keep... urggh... going!" he heard her grumble, her voice radically shifting as the mask detached, "I can feel it coming--"

Suddenly a cacophonous horn sound blared.
AHOOOOOGAH!!!!!

Stanley collapsed backwards on the floor, distracted by the loud noise. The mask slipped out of his grip and snapped back onto Peggy's face, the whiplash sending her flying backwards onto the couch.
"No! Wait! Aiiieee!" she yelped as the green substance invaded her mouth, ears and eye-sockets, and forcibly burrowed back inside her skull. Her head twisted and contorted as the mask resettled on her skull, tightening and shifting, returning to its seamless encasement as if it had never left. Her forest green lips curled into an annoyed frown as the horn blared again.
AHOOOOOGAH!!!!!

"Of all the times!..." she muttered, reaching into her cleavage and pulling out her smart phone. Its tiny speaker let out another ear-splitting bellow before she hit the decline button.
"Why won't my boss get the hint that I'm busy?!" she groaned in exasperation, "I'm surrounded by incompetent buffoons!" She glared at Stanley who was in a crumpled heap on the floor, nursing a bruised elbow.

"Wait, w–what?" Stanley blinked, "I was helping!"

"Oh yeah, thanks a BUNCH for that help Stanley," she retorted sarcastically. She pulled at her cheek and the masked surface stretched out about a foot without breaking its seal, before snapping back into place. "If anything its gotten even tighter. I mean, if it were that easy I could have been out of this thing by now," she complained with an exaggerated eye roll.
She returned to scrolling on her phone, muttering "I mean if that burly Samoan rugby team couldn't pull it off I don't know why I thought you could..."

Stanley opened his mouth to speak and then stopped himself, realizing that on second thought he probably did not want to know what she had been doing with a Samoan rugby team. Instead he mulled over what could have caused the mask to become so thoroughly fused to Peggy. It always resisted a bit at first, but then it normally would come off without too much effort. Usually he would just pull it off after wearing it for a few hours and pass out in bed...

"Look at this bozo!" Peggy exclaimed, interrupting his thoughts and waving her iPhone screen at him. "Why did I even bother studying at Dartmouth when I have to answer to a guy who writes garbage like this?!" Stanley peered at the screen.

"Th-there was a meteor?" Stan asked gulping, his eyes wide.

"I know, it's a total nightmare. How a man in his fifties can text like a teenage girl is beyond me," she continued, ignoring Stanley's question. Peggy stood up and straightened her skirt.
"Thanks for your incredibly useless attempt at getting this thing off me," she said flatly, "I have to go." She turned to leave, but Stanley stood up and called out.

"Wait Peggy! I can help you, just give me a little time to think." Peggy rolled her eyes and paused.

"Ugh...Fine. I'll come back tonight." And with that she spun around into a high speed tornado and crunched through the door frame, leaving a crumbling hole in her wake.

POLICE HQ, 7.32AM

Peggy slowed down in an alley near the police headquarters, glancing around to make sure she was alone. Three days of wearing the mask had not prevented her from keeping up with the news. After their ineffectual response to Shark Thing, the police had stepped up their efforts to capture the primary suspect: the green headed vigilante.

"I can't just waltz into the press conference with my current gorgeous complexion," she said aloud, "But if it's a mask they want..." She broke into a high-speed whirlwind, stopping just as quickly to reveal that she had returned to her normal appearance.
"...Then it's a mask they'll get!" she exclaimed with her regular voice. She checked out her reflection in the mirror of her compact makeup case. Her red hair was done up in a tidy ponytail, with bangs falling to just above her hazel eyes. Her red lipsticked lips curled into a sly grin, as she pulled at the peach-colored cheek of the hyper-realistic 'Peggy' mask that now encased her head. She opened and closed her jaw experimentally, delighting in the odd sensation of the two tight layers sliding against each other on her skin: the magical green mask, and over the top another layer that was a flawless simulacrum of her unmasked self.
With her camouflage in place, she walked as casually as possible towards the police headquarters. Hopefully after three days of being stuck as a horny, omnipotent looney tune she had not yet forgotten how to act normal.
